THE TURQUOISE TRAIL: Here you will find information about this day trip from Santa Fe to Albuquerque, points of interest on the Turquoise Trail, and the communities of Lamy, Galiesto, Cerrillos, Madrid, Golden, Cedar Crest, and Tijeras. As a bonus, we have included a colorful, topographical map of the area.
Madrid, New Mexico

The former mining town of Madrid is set in the Ortiz Mountains between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, on HWY 14. Also known as The Turquoise Trail, this National Scenic Byway is resplendent with stunning landscapes, history, ghost towns, and the creative folks who are the heart of New Mexico culture.

Once a ghost town itself, Madrid is now a thriving art colony. Full of galleries and shops, restaurants, a mining museum and a saloon, Madrid is a must-see for all who visit the Land of Enchantment.
